the first one was in PA for 3 days in 2005, the other in Hawaii for a week last year. The one in PA wasn't bad although the steering was too light and vague, and the seats were only good for an hour or so. But it was easy driving, from Philly up to Wilkes-Barre and back with some local stuff in Wilkes-Barre.
The one in Hawaii was dreadful. The steering was lighter and number, the tranny had wide ratios that were no good in hills, the ride was too soft on corners, and the brakes were absolutely dreadful. There was a long hill we went down several times and since it was a windy road with traffic we needed to be on the brakes a lot. They faded about halfway down, *before* it got to the steep part. I could gear down, so it was OK, but you could smell the brakes every time. (It was almost as bad as the minivan some buddies and I rented in Utah that ran out of brakes coming out of Little Cottonwood Canyon after a day at Alta. We had to stop half way down to let the brakes cool.)
The kids said the back seat of the Malibu was awful, too. We all hated the Malibu. All it got was decent mileage.
