To me, GM has always been hit-and-miss. Throughout the years they have had a few cars that have appealed to me like the latest GTO (great dollar-per hp), the CTS-V, and I really like the looks of the new Tahoe and the Acadia.
The one GM brand that I'm very impressed with right now is Saturn. What a turn around they have made in just the last two years. The Aura, Outlook, Vue, and Sky are, while not perfect, pretty impressive vehicles. I can't say I've ever really looked seriously at Saturn but wouldn't hesitate to stop in to look if I were in the market for a new car. I think Saturn would be the only "American" brand that I would consider right now (although the Pontiac G8 looks to be kind of appealing as well).
Hopefully we'll see a big turn around at Saab equal to Saturn's revival.
