Just helped my mother with a replacement for her '02 XC70. I have to say, the new model is quite a step above the former. It's based on the new S80 platform. The interior is very nice -- same great Volvo seats. Very fresh yet thoughtful design. The 6 cyl is quite smooth as compared to the 5 in the '02. Mileage isn't great tho -- nor was it in the '02.

Got some interesting features..her maiden voyage from DC to Florida tested the BLIS feature (blind spot detection system)...she very much likes it. Xenons too. It has some nifty tricks...automated tailgate, turn signals that flash three times when the stalk is pressed lightly (like BMWs), keyless entry, a decent standard sound system. All-in-all a nice execution.

I hope Saab brings some new luxury features in with the new 9-5. Volvo seems to have it right on this new model.
