Sometimes a dealer will get an allowance for a car used in an auto show. The factory definitely pays for any damage and about half the cars need to go to service to have various trim pieces replaced or repaired. The cars are resold as new, no disclosure required.
Saabs hold up pretty well to auto show abuse. We put a parchment interior 9-3 Linear at the show 2 years ago and I was surprised how easily the parchment interior cleaned up. I looked at the car just last month and the seat bolsters are getting a little discolored, but it looks like it will just clean up like at the show with a little soap and water.
Back in the 80's when I was with VW we did have a red Jetta GLI that came back from the show that we could never get to run right again.
