1990 Volvo 744 Turbo throwing codes - Swedecar? Posted by Larry West [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I'm putting this out to all, and hoping Anders reads this BB, too!
Patient is a 1990 744 turbo, Bosch LH 2.4 & EZK ignition.
At issue is a recurring Check Engine light. When checked, the codes are:
LH: 1-2-3; EZK: 2-2-4. Both point to a "missing or faulty signal from the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor". Occasionally, other codes accompany, but these are the most prevalent, with the LH leading the pair.
I have:
changed the ignition parts (plugs through rotor);
cleaned the throttle body
changed the engine coolant sensors (both for the gauge and the ECUs), cleaned the grounds between the valve cover and firewall.
I'm all but convinced I'm chasing an electrical troll. I'm planning on finding, cleaning, and re-connecting any and all other grounds that I can find this week.
I'm also trying to get this car to pass NJ emissions. Last time it failed by the tiniest of margins on CO%, by 0.02%... Maybe all I've done has already helped, but I need to keep the CEL off!
THanks,
