some would argue we get hosed on most car pricing!

Subarus might be more popular up here because of winter. That is where they shine, and there are lots of people up here who think AWD is a necessity. Again, most haven't driven a Saab in snow...

Maybe I'm missing something but right now Subaru is offering about $1k off up here... Another friend (who ended up getting a Volvo S60) looked at Subarus and couldn't get them to budge on price. Volvo was $9k off. Didn't test drive a Saab. Imho, a lot of Saab's sales problem is getting people in the door, ie marketing.

I agree, the cost of maintenance for any Saab really, is higher than the Subarus, largely because Subarus need a little less care + feeding + still are pretty reliable, and for many, that's a huge plus... that said, they seem to rust out faster...
