It was time to replace my '01 9-5 wagon, and the new 9-5 didn't really work for me, so I just got an '11 A4 Avant (wagon). I think it's a great car, but of interest on a Saab board, it's really like a big hatch. My Assistant said "Does that have a back like a...station wagon?" I said "It is a station wagon." With a 2.0T with good low end torque, it has Saab like virtue.
It's the first automatic transmission car I've owned (and I'm 60) - got it so my wife could drive it when we go on trips. I've usually disliked automatics, but love this one. 8 speed, and the shifts are so smooth you barely notice them. That said, not being used to an automatic I put my foot down a little more than necessary coming out of a turn, provoked a downshift and got pushed into the back of my seat.
The car handles great, it's plenty zippy, comfortable seats and nicely done interior (good leather, some wood, brushed aluminum), good utility, good mileage, I see nothing about this car not to like.
I'm hoping I can look at a 92 in a few years as well. Happy Holidays all.
