I was concerned about 3rd row safety, which is why I went with the Mazda5 versus a Kia Sedona. The Sedona 3rd row seat headrests are virtually touching the rear glass. Not so with the Mazda5.
Let's look at the picture - the point of impact is practically at the same height as the bottom of the rear window. This older model Mazda5 was hit very hard by a heavy HIGH vehicle on one corner. It completely missed the rear bumper, so obviously it was not braking at all (no nose-diving).
Please point me to a 6-passenger vehicle that would have protected all of the occupants in this scenario.
