It looked to me that if the wheel was moved out of the way it would be a pretty uncomfortable driving position.
The instruments are pretty hard to read even when not obscured. Both intrument pods are out of the driver's line of sight due to the LCD screen between them, you have to really take your eyes off the road to see them rather than just briefly glancing down. The instruments' color contrast being poor does not help readability either. (Fortunately the LCD screen can be used to show the speed, though you lose that if you set it for any of the other functions.)
Granted that a few of my complaints are due to being unfamiliar with the vehicle and disliking modern automotive electronics, but overall I found the Journey to be a real crapwagon. I would not be tempted to buy one, or even rent one again.
