the reason is that if the ECU is trying to controll boost & other things are happening then what it wants to happen it will aply more & more power to the coil in the BPC trying to corect either way
this can & does overheat the coil in the BPC & shorts it
this lowers resistance in the windings of the coil so when the ECU tries to ground the coil circuit to controll boost the transistor which drives the coil overheats & goes bad
basicaly leaving it pluged in when its known bad can wreck your ECUs ability to controll boost & can smoke the next BPC you put on
so my advise it to unplug it now if its bad
