I had intrax/koni on my SPG for many years, the softest setting is a very compliant ride which I thought was better then the SPG was stock. It does lower the car a bit thus you have to worry a bit more about bearking the fog lights or scraping the front but it's worth the minor issues.
With a BOV, I also ran one on my 87 SPG then my 88 SPG for I think 6 or so years. Never a problem with running issues & I also used larger IC pipes which were from group9 to allow me to fit the BOV to the pipe
