Opinion taken and thank you
With that I would assume you don't want to increase power in your car? I do and did, with that said heat in this part of the world is a little higher then most. I have a well-maintained C900. And during the spring summer months it always ran a little warm. Knowing that heat hurts Performance, I am always looking to reduce it. (Lager IC (front mounted), oil cooler(s), and so on.) So on my "hot rod" I going bigger and better.
I've already changed this one a bit. So... No going back now. My other 85 IS completely stock.
Most of all I disagree with your first reason. I dismantle a lot of 85s. 3 this past yr. My point, all of them had cracks in the turbo. Says a lot to me. Some say this is just the way it is. To "Deal with it" I didn't want to settle with that. Although neither the others (turbos) nor mine leaked oil or burned oil and all of them were free and clear of restrictions. But all cracked leaking air passed the waste-gate. Again my point is, that the stock setup was not the “best” and to make matters worse I live in a warm part of the country. I’m willing to make mistakes. I simple enjoy working on my car, for the better or for fixing my mistakes or miscalculations. Plus it should be known that this is my “fun” car. Some guys play golf; I play on my car(s).
Your third reason wasn't well thought out. Need data for that.
