John, I think GM is correct and will append that most brake fluid reservoirs have a MAX and a MIN mark. If you will keep the fluid near the MAX mark you should not experience the problem. Fluid level will drop as the pads wear, this is normal. Abnormal fluid loss needs to be investigated. The sensor mentioned by GM is the fluid level sensor in the reservoir. Sometimes they are faulty, and calibration will vary.
