Tom,
Hope all's well and happy holidays!
Changing the 2.0 liter cylinder head to the 2.3 liter cylinder head would show a modest improvement to the B202 engine. In an unmodified condition, the 2.3 liter cylinder head will outflow the 2.0 version on both intake and exhaust ports.
When modifying (port/releive)cylinder heads, the 2.0 liter will show the best end results/flow and would be superior to a fully modified 2.3 liter cyl head.
If trying to retain low end engine rpm performance, the port size and intake manifold plenum dimension will have substantial impact. Larger ports will typically outflow smaller versions but the speed in which intake and exhaust flow travel is reduced through these larger areas.
Port size is of substantial importance to cylinder head flow but back-cut valves, performance seats, modified valves, etc. could prove to be of even greater impact.
Best of luck and regards,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
