exaust manafold question

i have heard a lot of people grinding out the hump in the inside of the exaust manafold. my question is if i even have the hump in the inside of the manafold. i do not have a bolt where the hump is suposeibly located. i dont know why the hump would be there if the bolt isnt there.
right now im rebuilding my first engine and im not incredibly sure if its gonna run or not. i only want it to do 2 things. Run and go a little faster then a stock motor (ie 2.3 head,85 exaust cam, 2.1 intake, 91 9kt injectors.) right now im on the edge because i just hooked the turbo up (oil lines and all) and i dont really want to pull it apart only to find out that i dont have that hump in the manafold. if i know that its there then i will rip it apart again if it means it will make the car a little faster.
TIA
JP
