So I find out my engine is bad about three weeks ago and pick up an 85' with low miles, DIY port the head, intake and exhaust manifolds, do all the seals, bearings pumps etc... three weeks of intermittent work later its yesterday and I get the thing in and started, but it wont get into gear.
So maybe I bent the shift rod a little when I took it out. THere goes the interior so I can take out the whole shifter assembly and bend the rod back, when I do? no improvement. I screwed something up, thought I bent
the rod going into the tranny and the engine would have to come out again, so im a complete failure at this point. After a few hours of screwing around I give up, call AAA and get the car towed to my mech. So I go up today. and Since I took out my power steering I just ditched the pump when I put the eingine back in, also the bracket it is connected to you dont nee it right? Turns out without this bracket the eigine sits about 4" lower on the right side causing the shift rod to hit the power steering rack and of course it wont shift. How long did it take a saab mech to figure this out? about 6 seconds. Oh well at least it runs, we'll see about that tomorrow.
That felt good,
Cutic 89' 900T (85' engine which I hear is illegal in some states)
