I think you're confusing chassis rigidity with handling. Rigidity helps handling but it's not the only factor. The 9-2X with it's all wheel drive and racing heritage is inherently a better handling car from the outset. So to get the 9-3SS close to that you'll need more extensive suspension upgrades. Like a coilover setup.
You are disappointed with the Saab sports suspension because it's not as firm as you'd like, but it's not supposed to be about ultimate handling.
You want better handling and firmer suspension? Then you'll need lower springs and stiffer shocks. I'll dare bet that further bracing won't make a noticeable difference. Poly bushings may help, but aren't available yet, probably because they haven't been considered that necessary.
