The wastegate actuators on these turbos sometimes fail and are expensive to replace (and basically unavailable used). The TE05 is also not as durable as the T3. Furthermore, the TE05 is balanced differently than a T3, which means you really ought to pay someone else to do a rebuild/balance should yours require it. Then, the parts for Mitsubishi turbos tend to be more expensive than Garrett. Oh, and sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the TE05 gets a nice big crack at the wastegate.
So you have a turbo that's got a somewhat failure-prone, expensive wastegate actuator, and is expensive to rebuild and shouldn't be rebuilt DIY because of balancing. If the price for the new one includes the actuator, and it's a good price, and you want to hold onto the car for the foreseeable future, I say grab it and put it on a shelf for a rainy day.
