I heard Tolulene at 10%-30% will raise octane by 2-6 points and help with pre-ignition and all that.... Good article on the sc site. I was also told if you are going to do that, go with NOS octane boost which is said to raise the octane 6 full points... I was told this is better on the car than tolulene or other solvents. I tell ya, I just switched from 91 to a place that has 93 octane and it definetly made a difference, I did not even begin to ping high into the rev band and it held timing and boost all the way to 5500rpm, where it stated to fade some. Before with crappy 91 octane, it would start to dump by around 4500-4800rpm....
The Nos is expensice, 10.00 bucks a bottle, but it is one that is supposed to work and my personal experience is that is does just that... IT worked to keep pre-ignition down and allow safer higher boost levels to be run.
