I am considering a custom hood and be damned with the hood clearance issues. Shaker scoops are easy. You need a heat resistant rubber sponge with a hard rubber surface to seal against the hood. In a steel car, you line the underside that hits the rubber with hard heat resistant plastic. That prevents rust. This is fiberglass, so to blazes with the plastic.
Lining up is easy. One builds a sponge the size of the OD of the scoop and ID of the seal for the scoop, and then chalk up the top. Carefully close, tap repeatedly, and open the hood and there is an outline. Just cut away the dotted line.
Problem is where to put it. Remeber, I want to place a turbo. That moves the intake. There are issues as to placement of the turbo, as the distributer borders one side, the side frames make 2 borders, the radiator input(acts as a tower stablilizer too) borders the 4'th side of the rectangle. There are also hoses and the throttle linkage to deal with. I believe this will need a custom linkage. That frees up space and simplifies the design too.
As for right now, I need to install the new manifold and 2 bbl carb. Then I will visit my buddy to complete the custom adaptation of the harnesses for ECU and APC. Then I need to decide about rails, tunnel ram, and custom hoods at a later date. If I tunnel ram, I will cut up the stock 1BBL intake manifold and cluge in the 900classic manifold. Then I will sell my 2bbl to recoupe costs.
