My mechanic stated that I need all new ball joints for my 1993 classic Saab 900 Turbo. I aksed him if it was an emergency... He said "no, not necessarily, but any Saab with 190,000 needs new ball joints", (that's upper and lower on each front wheel). Labour and parts he said was just about $350 bucks. What are ball joints, and what does one's car feel like when they need to be replaced??? Maybe he's right, I don't know what a car feels like with fresh new ones vs. old crappy ones... Would I experience "squishy handling on old ones, or am I in real danger of having an accident if I don't get them replaced! Can anyone help with this issue? Anyone? That's alot of dough for something if I don't really need them all replaced right now, neededless to say. Comments, please? My car's a classic 1993 900T.
