I say go with 18's. Yea they ride a little stiffer but they look better & more importantly handling is improved :)
I have been using 18's on my SPG for 6+ years now with zero bent rims. Then again I also haven't bent a rim on my viggen which as everyone knows are soft & weak.
I would do a 225 40 so you get a little more sidewall
