We have a Magnaflow on the '93 Aero with no cat, is pretty quite, nice and sporty and very throaty, sounds very refined. Just right for a GT car.
On my '85 900 Turbo with headers and full 3" and no cat we have a Heddman louvered glasspack, and is about identical in sound to the Dynomax Bullet that was on there, but just to warn you from a post below, the Bullet line from Dynomax is extremely loud, is sounds almost the same as with no muffler at all, it cleans up some of the overtones and makes is not so raspy, just an extremely loud roar at WOT and a moderately loud tone at cruise.
I want to try one of Magnaflow's round case mufflers at some point, cause my car sounds like a track car now, and is almost too loud. If you want really loud and free-flowing, the Bullet is a good choice, cheap too.
Just my experiences,
Drew
