I'm not condemning the A.I.D., quite the contrary.

Some of you have read my posts regarding my recent A.I.D. installation, and problems I was having. Several people have questioned me and expressed thoughts about deciding not to order the A.I.D.

I want to express that I do feel the A.I.D. is doing just what is claimed, and that the problems I am experiencing are not related. In particular, I'm experiencing a knocking that is totally unrelated too boost, and if anything, most prominent with vacuum and very light throttle. Advancing the timing exacerbates the problem, but this isn't the A.I.D.'s fault.

I know the lifters need replacing, I'm just praying that they are the source of not only their clickety-clack noises which come and go, but also this knocking. The APC either doesn't hear it, or it doesn't happen under boost conditions, or just doesn't think it's knock, because my max boost is rock solid. Before I installed the A.I.D., I had to retard the timing slighly to get solid boost at 15-16 psi. Now, I'm at 16 degrees BTDC and still holding steady with no pinging ever.

So for all of you 'on the edge' regarding the A.I.D., I feel it's doing just what it's supposed to do. Once I get my other problems fixed, I'll be able to utilize the other half of it's benefit, that being the ability to advance the timing to get better low end response..

I did some work on my water injection system installation this weekend. Pictures at the link below! I also have separated my uprade pages into one page per category, instead of everything on one page.. Hit the UP arrow from the water injection link for the rest. I should have the water injection up and running by mid-week or end at the latest, and will report back then!
