Rob,

I just finished installing my 18" X 10" X 2.5" bar & plate core eBay intercooler last weekend, only took my 9 months....

It has 2.25" cold side and 2.5" hot side aluminum intake tubing, I kept the A/C intact, by tilting the radiator and A/C condenser back towards the engine about 1.5". I left tow hooks intact also, and I was very uncomfortable removing the bumper impact members, as this is a big part of how the bumper transmits front impact into the inner fenders to spread the impact in the event of a frontal collission. I think the way I cut the radiator supports will cause them to fold in exactly the same way as the original design intends, without sacrificing any of the crumple zones.

Got to drive it for 2 days before I broke the clutch line (old line and 9000 pressure plate = too much line pressure, blew the flexible line right off the hard line, getting it fixed tomorrow morning). We have ambient temps between 110* and 115* during the day this time of year here in the Palm Springs area, and this intercooler made a whole heck of a difference. With my current setup I already had basically no boost taper, but this really made me feel secure. Driving around in the heat here, you could pull over, and without the headlight surrounds installed, you can put your hands on the end tanks on both sides of the new intercooler, the difference is amazing, even when the cooling air is hot! Opens up that area for the air filter to breathe less obstructed also. I love my install.

See album.

Drew
