Yhe main difference is how the ring gear bolts on. If yours bolts on in the same way And is located in the same relative position then it should work. The slots just gave you a little space to get behind the bearing and the spedo gear on the 9000's. What is the number printed on your LSD.
I have done 9000, 9-3 and 9-5 Quaife's.
In the 9000 The compatability issue is not with the transmission in the 96-98 years but the ring gears bolt on differently. You can use either of the 9000 Quaife's in any 94-98 9000 box as long as you have the proper ring gear.
In the picture the 95 9000 diff is on the left and a Viggen diff is on the right.
