Re: Clutch slipping with Stage 3 Posted by 900 Aero [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Clutch slipping with Stage 3, Rod ![]() |
I've dealt with several after market clutch upgrades for these cars and they were all "too grabby" and their disks took too long to seat and some never did. My recommendations are to just spend the money and buy a Sachs Race Engineering 88 3082 999 740 pressure plate and use an OEM Sachs disk. I've never seen any problems with this combination and you won't ever have to worry about a slipping clutch with your stage 3 upgrade. A friend of mine with a Saab dealership would treat you right on this pressure plate and I can get a good deal on the OE disk. By the way a '94 to '98 9000T is the best example of the benefits of a lightened balanced flywheel as they weigh 21 lbs to start with and can safely be reduced to 12lbs due to how thick Saab made them with their smaller overall diameter. With this upgrade you should also go to a high pressure clutch line while you're at it! Dave
