T7 and T5 report knock to the ecu in different ways. They both sense it through ion sensing but its how the ECU sees it that causes a problem. T5 ECU will not read knock properly from a black (T7) DI. This leads to the ECU not dialing back the boost and timing properly as knock begins to occur. I would only use a T7 DI in a T5 car under dire circumstances and would get the T5 DI back in as soon as possible. The sparks are also generated in different ways. If i remember correctly T5 is a DC (direct current) spark and T7 is an AC (alternating current) spark. Big difference in the electrical engineering from that stand point.
