4-speed stuff:

1. Dipstick tube: 4-speed tube is for the dipstick only; it doesn't double as an oil filler like the 5-speed. Either live with it, or figure how to get oil in quicker. I fab'd a filler on the valve cover. You could weld a 5-speed threading on in place of the 4's and use a 5-speed tube, too. Or weld a filler cap thread to the valve cover.

2. Turbo support bracket: notch it to clear some ribbing on the gearbox.

3. Downpipe support bracket: the 5-speed bracket will not work with a 4-speed. You'll either need a 4-speed bracket or you'll need to fab your own. If you find a 4-speed bracket, attach with RED LOCTITE.

4. Damien (Hi Damien :-) mentioned the shifter. I drove 99s a bunch at one point so I don't mind the lack of centering.

5. More shifter stuff: you ideally want a 4-speed shifter, as the plastic gate on the bottom of a 5-speed messes up shifting. Might be able to use just a 4-speed plastic piece on your existing 5-speed shifter; dunno for sure.

Just so you know: if you drive on highways a lot, you're probably not going to like the 4-speed much. The gearing is too short for the highway, especially if you live in a western state w/70 mph speed limits. My understanding is that other 99 primaries can be used, but to use them from a 900 may require some machine/welding work. I'm unfamiliar with all the ratios for chain-driven 4-speeds, so it may be a piece of cake, or maybe a pain in the butt.
