Hey...

I has proposed this idea (and contracted out) to Nick about 3 weeks ago to machine down the compressor housing on my spare pre-2006 TD04HL-15T compressor housing to allow for fitment of the 2006+ 'King cobra' pipe. Nick obviously did a fabulous job and the one pictured on the genuine website is the 2nd one he did after completing mine. The crankcase vent on the cobra pipe was a bit of consern for both of us since the 2004 models switched from a bango bolt to a press-in fitting...Nick resolved that by machining threaded press-in so it can accept the pre-2004 banjo bolts.

I personally had bought a used TD04HL-15T off ebay for this project for $100 so that way I don't have to worry about the $300 deposit or tear off the turbo for the work to be done. Putting the compressor housing on will require me to pull the turbo off car....which I'm not really looking forward to, but it seems pretty straight forward....my biggest concern is breaking the studs that hold the turbo to the exhaust manifold in the process....I will be using lots of liquid wrench in the week prior to pulling it.
Putting the housing on an off also requires Snap-ring pliers that have the ability to take off a 3" snap-ring. Snap-on tools is one of the few places that sell them for rings this big and only run about $25...a 45 or 90 degree bend is required. I orginally bought a 90 degree one (SRPC9090A) but that required me to remove the exhaust housing first, I believe the 45 degree one (SRPC9045A) will allow me to remove/replace without removing the exhaust housing...I have this one on order and its one its way. As a part of this as well, a new turbo-to-manifold gasket will be needed as well as new stubs and nuts (just in case).

UPS tracking says my housing and cobra pipe will be here on Tuesday....can't wait!!
