1. 1995 SAAB CS 9000 Mitsubishi TD04 Turbo with AERO ECU and boost control valve. 185K miles.

2. Saturday night on the turnpike suddenly my engine quit while driving about 65 mph. After I pulled over I was in a no start condition.
The next day after having the car towed home I swapped the windshield wiper spray relay, which is the same unit and the car ran fine.

3. Yesterday while on the highway my car suddenly started driving herky jerky today on the highway. Later while limping home I pulled a CEL and 6 flashes. For a minute when I encountered the problem I thought I had burned out the Fuel Pump Relay again. However the car was drivable as long as I kept it under -3" of vacuum by watching my boost (vacuum gauge) and flipping the gas pedal so that it stayed in the -10" to -20” range. If I tied to lay on the gas and get it into the boost range, the fuel/boost cut. The highest I got was 3 “. That’s how I got home.

4. I pulled 6 pulses on the CEL.

5. This morning my car was in a no start condition. When I put in a brand new Fuel Rump relay, the car drove perfectly!

6. I am trying to tie this all together analytically. It is incongruous. I do not know what a Fuel Pump looks like internally but I do believe it has brushes and windings that get worn or corrode over a period of time and which draw more current.

7. I would be foolish to drive this car until I solve the entire problem. I am leaning towards replacing my Fuel Pump.

I have lost two Fuel Pressure Relays and I believe this is more than coincidence
