The fourth iteration of the gearbox in my 95 9000 track car is going back together after sitting on the bench for 18 months.
I am using the latest cases with reinforcing flanges and gear and shaft upgrades but have decided to try the 4.45 final drive ring and pinion gearset that I have laying around which is compatable with the Quaife LSD and my gear cases. This is 20% lower ratio than the stock 9000 final drive. I had 4.05:1 final drive in the box for the last four years.
With the weight of the car at 2500lbs I am hoping that second gear will be low enough that I can effectively ignore 1st. In addition I am running race tyires that are 23" in diameter, this further reduces the final ratio another 8%.
if I don't like the box, It will be a perfect set up for normally asperated 9000
