Re: Manual transmission oil cooler Posted by Bryan [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Manual transmission oil cooler, MTAERO ![]() |
ive got a tilton oil pump which is one of the only electric pumps im aware of that is made to pump oil, and it is made with race cars in mind.
i also found that using earl's heat exchangers instead of the stock auto trans heat exchanger is easy. they make one that is just slightly larger that with minimal modification of the housings can be used in the stock location for both the engine oil and transmission oil cooler locations. this then allows the use of AN fittings at the oil cooler, which is a benefit.
another topic that i think is worthy of consideration is where the oil is extracted and replaced. there were some great posts on this topic a while back. most pick up the hot oil in the differential and dump it back in the differential. i theorized that dumping the oil back in the transmission at a location to promote uniform curculation would help. but i haven't driven my car hard yet. someone also suggested to dump the cooled oil in multiple locations in the trans.
i also chose to install a trans gauge and the pump is switched, so i will be able to run tests using the gauge and switch soon as soon a my tuning is complete.
