G-Tech test results... Posted by Porschephile951 [Email] (#2169) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Porschephile951) on Mon, 16 Apr 2007 02:30:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My friend stopped over with his 1994 Celica GT today with a big grin on his face...he'd picked up an older-style G-Tech and wanted to run his car and possibly mine. We're both car fanatics with "fast cars," but we wanted to see what our daily drivers could lay down.
While I don't necessarily take accelerometers like the G-Tech to be a great absolute measurement, times between G-Techs seem consistent.
The strip of road wasn't long enough for a safe 1/4 mile, and it was a public road (despite being as desolate as it was), so it didn't seem appropriate anyhow. We recorded three 0-60 mph runs each.
1994 Celica GT; tired, stock, and with worn clutch.
(0-60 mph)
1: 9.94 sec
2: 10.5 sec
3: 9.99 sec
1995 Saab 9000 FPT; remapped ECU, upgraded clutch, all-season tires.
(0-60 mph)
1: 5.91 sec
2: 5.42 sec
3: 5.61 sec
I experimented with different types of launches...I hate launching FWD cars with lots of turbo power because they're useless in first gear (feels like I'm destroying it), and then it spins the wheels all the way through second and you're just praying you modulated the throttle in the best way possible. Lots of wheelspin here.
Looks like the previous owner was probably correct in that the 9000 could hand it to E36 M3s...in a straight line. When I got this 9k I immediately wanted more power, but now that I've seen the numbers, well, I might just stick something into the suspension and other fix-it-up stuff first.
