ABBOTT is a pretty special operation, long Posted by MTAERO [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: abbott racing UK, jak ![]() |
Abbott Racing is a pretty special operation and had a major influence on Saab tuning in the early 90's when the internet didn't even let us know about the Sweedish tuners.
The Saabs that we are tuning now with reckless abandon are the ng900's and 9000's because they are plentiful, cheap and easy to tune. As it turns out, they are perhaps the most robust raw materials that any tuner could dream of working with.
What did Abbott do with these vehicles? go back to 1996 when I decided to modify my 9000 Aero. Abbott had an ecu upgrade, a Quaife LSD, a forge BOV, a upgradded intercooler and a 2.5" stainless exaust exaust from turbo to end pipe.
I bought everything they made for 9000's and don't regret any of these warrantie viaolting mods to my new $43,000 family sedan, that I did in 1996. This is 11 years ago.
How many of you remember the history of Sab mods in the mid 90's? I remember very well, because Matt Kanniwisher spent three years trying to market Saab tuning products, many sourced from abbott but also from other sources to dealers in the US as factory approved mods.
I could go on with this for much longer...... if anyone has interrrest in "Accelerated Response Motoring", Abbott America in the 90's (Matt Kannewisher) reply to this post, this is the "history" of Saab tuning in North America.
ABBOTT is a real and they don't get the credit they deserve.
