I advised him to use the torque rather then the HP on the track if possible
Ive had 2 litres at 270WHP & over 300 ft lbs at the wheels holding mabey 18PSI at 5500RPM
the bigger displacement engine will have a tendancy to outflow the turbo even more at high RPMs increasing boost taper
trying to get the higher PSI at higher RPMs is basically trying to use the turbo outside of its efficiency range & one would be better off with a bigger turbo to more efficiently move the air higher in the RPMs as pushing a smaller turbo higher in the RPMs just heats up the intake air more then using it in its efficiency range & this may not result in much if an increase in HP while lowering torque considerably
john williams 2.3 gets booost taper with a GT3071R & this is checking with an external boost controller, I think its at like 23PSI at 6000RPM? so a TD04HL15T6cm2 would have much less boost up there
john williams was telling me that his ETs on the track get better if he shifts at 5500RPM so he is in the meat of his power using the strenth of the turbo & engine combo
an aero turbo would work well at a considerably lower RPM.....
think of the turbo as a air pump with a fixed upper limit CFM sorta
the engine has a fixed displacement but moves more & more air as RPMs increase so at some point the turbo just cant keep up any more & boost taper is the result
anyway..... I hope that helps somewhat
have a great week
