Usually I would not argue with you Hans, but under city driving conditions apparently the AMM wire can get skunked. Not sure why, but 2 Saab mechanics I know say this.
Another cause for lots of gunk may be a bad non-functioning AMM. If the wire is broken, it will collect crap and be unable to burn off.
Again, I am quoting 2 Saab mechanics here, 1 indy and one dealer. Otherwise I would never contradict you Hans.
