There's no easy way to add 75-100HP with a few simple bolt-ons and less than $1500. (In all reality, if you are even mildly adventurous, this amount of power can be had for substantially less then $1500.)

The difference between the two might not be terribly apparent before 30MPH but from there on up, they wouldn't be in the same zip code.

The Saab weak point is really more like zero to 30 MPH than zero to 60 MPH. It's really a first gear issue. (Which BTW can be largely dealt with by adding some well chosen modifications.) An Aero can make a HUGE area under the curve on a graph, and as any good road-race car engine builder will tell you, area under the curve is what counts if you want to win.

I totally agree that today's modern cars are scarry fast by my "back in the day" standards but some of these old timers are pretty darn good base platforms for modifications. A 10 year old Saab 900/9000 turbo has a large area of "untapped" potential that is a goldmine for the DIY tweaker. Modern cars have higher specific outputs and are much more difficult to "play with".

It's all personal taste I guess but I'll take mine with a little room for personal expression please!
