I have a 1988 SPG and have pulled it out of the garage after a 4 year semi-hibernation. When I built the car in 2001, Dave at Lesco put together a splendid short block with JE pistons, knife-edged crank, side-ground and shot-peened rods, ARP hardware, and a o-ringed deck which I quickly melted down during my tuning attempt with the also new SDS engine management. OUCH!! I cried for a very long time, and then swapped out short blocks with another turbo 900 engine I had sitting around, just to enjoy the car until I could fix my expensive mistake. I drove it for a short while, was side tracked by other exciting things. Now I am replacing the 150k mile short block that has serious blow-by from worn rings and a cracked freeze plug with a 70k mile short block with great internals. I want to freshen up the short block with new freeze plugs before it goes together and in the car. I measured the OD of the freeze plug ports as 42mm.

Does anyone know of a supplier for 42mm stainless steel freeze plugs to replace the two main plugs on a C900 block? If stainless is not available then brass will do. I do not want to install plain steel plugs.

I also am thinking of changing my wheel/tire setup from my 16" super aeros and 215/50/16 BFG G-Force KDW's to a 17" or even an 18" setup. After the wheels would come some big brakes up front.

What are you performance-minded folks doing these days for groovy wheels? From what I remember there was some issues finding larger diameter wheels that had the proper width/offset combination that would work well with the C900. I want to keep rubbing to a minimum and still do not want to spend money like you, Gary Moore!! who's wheels I am sooo jealous of!! Let me know what cool new stuff is out there for my SPG baby!!
