Intercooler upgrade for '88 9K turbo?

We are in the process of rebuilding the engine on my car (it finally blew a head gasket, after 248K miles). We have done a lot of upgrading to nearly every system in the car. K&N air filter, 2.5 IC to throttle body pipe, 3" hi-flow Magnaflow cat and muffler (sounds great, too!!) Stage 2 APC, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, . . . and on.* At this point we are upgrading the turbo itself to a T3/T4 combo and looking at the IC. From the two people I'm leaning on, we are now looking at the IC. The stock IC will be okay for what we are doing/have done, but I'm wondering if there are other ICs that might work well to improve the air flow without buying a new high rated one. I did a bunch of reading through the forums here and couldn't find any real direction for my car, though there does seem to be some interest in Viggen ICs, but not sure about size, etc. on that. We have access to a number of cars and might be able to pull an IC from another car to help us out, if we knew what we should be looking for.
*Other upgrades are largely irrelevant, but have Nology Hotwires and plugs, G9 adjustable timing unit and their adjustable turbo bypass valve, SAS bars front and back and poly bushings all over. Ordering the Classic 9000 sport suspension kit from my research here and the front strut brace. Oh yeah, replaced my clutch with the dual force clutch for this car, too. It's been a real fun car to drive and had it on a track, too, but that was with average rubber and my clutch was on it's way out at that point.
