They are much cheaper than anoyone else in the area on both parts and labor. I think a full tranny rebuild from Viking is something like $400 less than anywhere else in the area. Don't quote me on that, but I know it is less than some other area indie shops. Plus, they're nice guys who care about you and your car!
Sucks that I now have to pay more for my stuff. Dang. They are so busy right now that he doesn't have time to install anything new on my car, anyway! :) No more lift time for me.
Flywheels can have the problems the dealer described, but you are right: it's rare. They are very heavy, and would have to be subjected to some serious power (300 hp +) to have those kinds of problems. Ya never know, though. It will be obvious when doing the clutch whether or not the flywheel needs to be replaced.
I'll be at the shop this weekend, installing the Mitsu turbo. Come one by if ya want
