Sure you can live with it. If the oil blow bye is not too bad and that does not bother you, don't worry about it. At some point you will lose compression and power and have blow bye, but if you are not trying to get a lot of hp out of the motor and don't mind checking and topping off the oil every week or so, its no big deal and the car could run forever like that!
When you bore over, its mainly to get the cylinder bores back into true round and get rid of any bell house damage. Then you also get the nice tight fit and make maximum hp and have little blow bye. That is if you seat the rings correctly :-)
