In the process of having a new Quaife installed in a new transmission and I have the following questions:
1. The Quaife requires less shims then the OEM diff.....8mm vs 1.2mm. This would mean that it is actually larger than the OEM diff....does this seem right?
2. The bolts that hold the ring gear to the diff. are stretch bolts much like in a cylinder head and technically are supposed to be replaced after having been torqued down. I priced a set of these bolts and they were about $300 and 3 weeks back-order! To further complicate things, the OEM diff. had one less bolt hole than the Quiafe which has the same number (13) as the ring gear, so we're one bolt short (not supposed to mix old and new bolts either!!). What have you guys done...sprung for new bolts? I'm a bit uncomfortable with one bolt missing despite the OEM set-up having been like this..... I don't want my Viggen to eat another tranny.....help please!!!
