Alright. Aside from the different clock position from the factory and the different drain flanges (you just unbolt it and change to the flange needed for the application) here are the following differences.

Turbine housing: This is where the 6cm2 and 5cm2 references come up. The 9k aero used the larger 6cm2 housing which allowed it to flow more. The T7 cars that use the TD04 received the 5cm2 turbine housing in an attempt to reduce the turbo lag by making the housing smaller.

Compressor housing: There is no performance difference here, only in how the intake piping is connected to the turbo itself. The 9k Aero had a direct shot from the air filter to the turbo so it was able to use a very simple slip on and clamp down setup. The T7 cars due to the turbo being reversed and the tight confines between the compressor housing and the A/C compressor used a shorter lip and were grooved for a V-Band application. The V-band grabbed the lip on both the turbo and the inlet pipe that snaked down into that area of the engine bay.

You can use either compressor housing or full turbo assembly on a T7 car. If you use a 9k aero td04 you need to reclock it and and modify the intake tract so that you can use a 90 degree silicone elbow to slip over and clamp down onto the turbo. Doing this method will result in the elbow being pushed inward by the A/C compressor due to the tight fit.
