I've been in contact with Jak Stoll and a guy named Brian at a company called Colorado Turbocharger repair. Brian and I have been talking about a TD04HL-19T, and I'm waiting to hear back from Jak about the price on his T25/T28 hybrid. I talked to Jak on the phone, and I think he might have told me that a bigger turbo right now may require a software update. My goal is to eventually achieve 325hp, so I want a turbo that can support a little more than that.
I do have some good news though, at least for me it's good news. I posted a couple weeks ago about what I can do with a seized turbo, and now that this happened I started to disassemble it. I have been able to get the wheels to spin, and to not hear any noise. It isn't spinning as freely as it should yet, but I haven't gotten the compressor housing off yet because I need to buy a larger snap ring pliers. I'm hoping that I can maybe get this old turbocharger working again with no more than a basic home rebuild for $50. If I'm able to do that I can buy myself some time so that I can afford do a proper turbo upgrade right. In reality, I can't afford to buy a turbo upgrade, but I don't want to waste my money buying another T25 if it won't hold up.
