Hi,
I've got a front shock that is quickly dying on my '04 9-5 Aero. My car is completely stock, but I figured this would be a good time to upgrade.

I had put on some Bilstein HDs on the rear of my older '00 9-5 Aero and was quite satisfied, but that car always had a "bouncy" ride, and the front shocks seemed very adequate.

On my '04 9-5 Aero, it's the front that seems floaty + vague compared to my older 9-5, whereas the rear seems much better than the old car. In any event, the ride of the '04 is much better than the '00, less nervous, less bouncy, more comfortable. Less precice too, perhaps, but also with less body lean.

Sooo, should I go with Bilsteins all around, will they be much stiffer than the current setup, will it likely yield a "bouncy" ride? I don't mind it being a little harsh, I just hate it though when the car follows every ondulation in the road, being bouncy as if the springs were too short or stiff or as if it were a cheaply moded civic.

I'm not a DIY-er, so having adjustable shocks seems like a not so interesting proposal, but I am willing to consider this. Dropping the car lower seems like a bad idea with the horrible potholes we have here in Montreal, not to mention winter driving...

Finally, would it also be a good time to put on larger anti-roll bars? How great of an effect does this have, any recommendations and ideas re: cost?

Thanks everyone, happy SAABing!

Rick C.
