Fellow SABBers,
First I'd like to thank those of you that responded to my query and gave some great suggestions and musings. I have done many clutch jobs in the past and was quite adept at the task, however the one variable was the pressure plate and disc being aftermarket (CenterForce Dual-Friction).

Consider the following:
1. New slave cylinder
2. New Throwout Bearing
2.5 New Input Shaft Trans Seal
3. Re-surfaced original flywheel with no cracks or hotspots, and not milled past wear-indicators
4. low pressure used for bleeding
5. original saab spacer tool for ease of installation.

And yet with all of this my clutch slipped as bad as before I replaced it when I tested it right after install.(and upon examination afterwards -a very lightly worn original clutch disk and pressure plate!!).

So, of course I was miffed because every job I did in the past was with the OEM or similar clutch that just works every time and never slipped.

But with the Centerforce, there were two other factors that contributed to the slippage:
1. This clutch took about 1500 MILES to SEAT! -Centerforce claims that average seating time is approximately 500 miles. Yeah OK.
2. The extremely long time to seat may have been due to a mistake in installation that pushed in the pressure plate fingers REALLY far, before releasing them for bleeding and eventual use.
3. There are other possibilities too, but I dotn really have any qaulitative way to measure them - Slave Cylinder reasing better? WHo knows...

Anyhow, the end result is that it works really well now, and I appreaciate your time, and wanted to share the end result of all of this tom-foolery.

Peace,
SAABROB_CA
and
a very Happy "Cole"
