What I'm looking for is actually a way to remove potential carbon particles at the bottom of the oil pan without dropping the pan.
I do not at all wish to flush the engine.
Like I mentioned in my original post on the 9-5 board, I'm looking for some liquid to pump into the oil pan itself that would sit out at the bottom and dissolve carbon particles both at the bottom and especially those already potentially stuck in the oil pick-up screen hovering close to the bottom.
If I understand it correctly, all an oil pan drop does is removing the solids at the bottom, and especially cleaning out those stuck in the pickup screen mesh. The clogging of the pick-up screen at the bottom leading to drop in oil pressure and oil starvation at the top of the engine is the most prevalent cause of engine destruction. So, I'm thinking of putting something directly into the oil pan, either through the drain plug or the oil pump connection, let it sit over night at the bottom of the oil pan to dissolve the carbon, then drain/vacuum the fluid in the morning and flush the oil pan with fresh engine oil . . . all without ever starting the engine at all . . . so none of the oil galleries in the engine sees the solvent liquid at all.
I actually wanted to order the modified oil pan with a removable plate, but I didn't hear anything from the entreprenurial small business that invented it after emailing and calling. So the next best thing I can think of that would allow regular removal of carbon particles from the bottom/pickup screen would be regular soaking and draining.
