Yes, and if you increase yoru boost or install the Abbott ECU mods, you will probably need to replace the original unit. If is does not fail, it will make tooting noises as the valve plug seats and unseats.
Also, the Viggen OEM valve does fail on some vehicles. And the Motorsport dump valve from Abbott has a replaceable diaphragm. But the down side is that it fails and you will have to replace it.
There are some good piston type valves available. The 1" bypass valve from http://www.turboxs.com fits fine. You can see the larger unit at their web site, the 1" one just came out. It is slightly cheaper than the one you will find on their web site. Serach for further info under posts by Dean. Or search for turboxs.
