'bout wastegate outlet...
If you really want to be meanest kid on the block, use external wastegate that vents directly to atmosphere. I have that setup on my 911 turbo...
It looks like this:
one big 3" pipe going straight into turbo (big agricultural KKK k27) , and welded onto that pipe @ 90 degrees is smaller pipe going into wastegate, then out from wastegate straight into atmosphere trough chromed 1,5" pipe on the side.
I doubt it helps performance that much, but it was easyer to route it that way on my car beacuse we welded cutom exhaust and there was simply no place to route it back into muffler.
It won't open until 1 bar, but when it does you hear this really freaky unmuffled "raaaaaaahhhhh"-sound which means you're doing Warp-9.
I'll try to take a picture if it can help you.
I don't believe it's easy to do with turbochargers with internal wastegate...those internal WG's are always leaking a bit and it would be really noisy setup. Actually, a guy who's really into rally-tuning (from same place that Per Eklund comes from) told me that for real performance, external wastegate is only way to go.
So...extractor headers, big turbo, external wastegate venting straight out. But by then your tranny would be long gone. Then you can contact Jörgen Ericsson...he does some pretty 4-speed tranny's.
Hmm...am i getting carried away ?
Cheers!
